University of Memphis Dedicates Maxine A. Smith University Center

Watching an awesome dedication ceremony at the UofM Maxine A. Smith University Center today. Named in honor of Dr. Maxine A. Smith, a longtime civil rights activist, academic and education leader locally and throughout Tennessee. In 1971 she became the first African-American to be elected to the Memphis Board of Education, and in 1991 she was elected Board President, a role she served for two terms, until her retirement in 1995.

We worked with Haizlip Studio to design and produce the center which was completed in 2008. You can watch the LIVE (and replay) of the Dedication Ceremony here!
