Staff Accountant

Full-Time - Competitive Salary Based on Experience

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the firm, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining general ledger accounts, process monthly billings and assisting with financial analysis and project accounting activities.

Key Responsibilities:

General Accounting

  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.
  • Reconcile credit card statements, and balance sheet/income statement accounts monthly.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports.
  • Support budget and forecast preparation.

Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable

  • Review employee expense reports.
  • Serve as backup for our Accounts Payable Specialist.
  • Assist with customer invoicing and collections activities.
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and resolve past due balances.

Project Accounting

  • Support project managers with project cost tracking and reporting.
  • Assist with WIP reporting and project profitability analysis.
  • Help ensure compliance with contract billing requirements.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Assist with monthly financial statements and management reports.
  • Support external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting.
  • Maintain records in accordance with GAAP and company policies.

 

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or related accounting field.

Experience: 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in an engineering, consulting, construction, professional services, or project-based environment.

  • Strong understanding of GAAP.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
  • Proficiency with Adobe.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting software.  Deltek Vantagepoint experience preferred
