We are looking for a Vice President and Director of Architecture for our office in Memphis, TN to take the initiative to develop new ideas and systems, analyze and improve on practices already in place, and provide leadership, management, technical, and business development skills to the Architectural Department. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead a team of architects and designers to establish project scope, proposals, budget, design approach, applicable constraints, project schedule, and project cost estimates
• Assist with the programming, design, preparation of construction documents, and construction administration
• Manage the Architecture Department according to the strategic plan that aligns with business goals and objectives
• Manage all project scopes, fees, contracts, billing reviews, invoicing, and accounts receivable for the department
• Perform staff evaluations for the department and oversee performance management/coaching to foster the development of team members
• Develop and execute a plan for personal, professional, technical, etc., training for the department, constantly identifying areas with opportunities for improvement to have the best team of architects in our field
• Develop and remain current, with industry best practices that ensure the highest quality of service is provided to clients and delivered in a timely and professional manner
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education and Professional Certifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture
• Must have a Professional License and be a registered architect
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in the field of Architecture as a Project Architect, Team Manager, or equivalent required, with experience leading multiple projects and managing direct reports
• Experience working with engineering firms; interfacing with internal departments a plus
• Knowledge of ADA building requirements
• Diversified experience working with school districts, private, and public sectors
Skills/Competencies/Abilities:
• Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration, coaching, and relationship building with team members and clients
• Ability to inspire and gain the confidence of leadership and clients through carefully curated bank of knowledge and timely response to needs and information
• Ability to meet deadlines and effectively oversee multiple projects
• Ability to not only solve problems, but to be able to look ahead and anticipate potential problems and find solutions to prevent them from occurring
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit 3D design programs
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Ability to manage multiple tasks on multiple projects while maintaining a strong attention to detail and the propensity to see the big picture
