On behalf of the City of Memphis and the Shelby County Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), Fisher Arnold completed Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) for several contaminated or potentially contaminated properties throughout the City of Memphis. This work was performed under the CRA’s U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Brownfields Coalition Assessment Grant program, which supports the redevelopment of underutilized properties and promotes community revitalization.
All Phase I ESAs were conducted in accordance with ASTM Standard E1527-21 and included the following components:
Fisher Arnold completed a Phase I ESA for the historic St. Thomas Church property. The assessment identified Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs) associated with the presence of former automotive repair and dry-cleaning operations located in the surrounding area.
The Phase I ESA identified Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs) due to the historical presence of nearby gasoline service stations, which may have impacted environmental conditions at the site.
Based on the site’s historical residential land use and surrounding neighborhood context, the assessment found no Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs).
The Phase I ESA determined that no Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs) were present. Findings were consistent with the site’s historical residential setting and surrounding land use patterns.
