These studies we completed on the transitional area of the Uptown area of downtown. This area is comprised of both residential and industrial properties. Historically, this area has been residential, but throughout the years various industry and corner fueling stations emerged. F&A identified numerous recognized environmental conditions (REC's) as defined by the ASTM Standard Practice E1527.
Currently, one area of this study area has been forwarded to the State of Tennessee for further evaluation and remedial evaluation for the construction of residential properties.
UPTOWN Memphis will transform distressed city neighborhoods and public housing projects into a revitalized mixed-income community, and reintegrate the neighborhood into the social and economic fabric of a resurgent Downtown. The UPTOWN Redevelopment region includes 125 blocks, bounded by Cedar Avenue to the north, Ayers Street to the east, Auction Avenue to the south and the Wolf River to the west. Within this area are the now vacant public housing projects, Hurt Village and Lauderdale Courts. Anchoring the region to the west are the Mississippi River and Mud Island with its prosperous Harbor Town new urban development, and to the south is the St. Jude medical complex undergoing a billion dollar expansion.
Fisher & Arnold Environmental joined with Environmental FX, a local Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) in completing a number of Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) for the Uptown Partnership development in North Memphis, in Partnership with Memphis Housing Authority.
