State of Mississippi

Fisher & Arnold successfully entered an active Mississippi plastic product manufacturer in the State of Mississippi Brownfields Program for site review. Work at the site proceeded under the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, Office of Pollution Control. The site was also under the oversight of the Uncontrolled Sites Section of MDEQ. As an approved Brownfields consultant, F&A prepared a Site Characterization Work Plan under program guidelines to close a detailed soil and ground water investigation. The work plan involved identifying data needs utilizing the Data Quality Objectives selection process for a full site conceptual model. The work plan addressed data needs for bis(2-Ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP) impacts to ground water. Operations of a chemical tank farm associated with an active industrial plant in Mississippi were identified as the source of subsurface contaminations in soils and ground water. F&A has prepared quarterly sampling reports and various work plans for the installation of additional wells for review and approval by MDEQ Uncontrolled Sites Section. Project work has included quarterly sampling of approximately ten ground water wells with one Type II well nest. The Brownfields agreement was successfully completed with a Contingency Plan and installation of an intermediate remedial system.

The following work tasks were completed on this project:

• Brownfields Site Characterization Workplan
• Brownfields Site Characterization Report
• Supplemental Characterization Workplan
• Corrective Action Plan
