F&A Environmental conducted in-situ ground water remediation of dry cleaner solvents originating from a former dry cleaners located near the Memphis International Airport. Fisher & Arnold has conducted the following work on behalf of Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority (MSCAA), the current property owner. The TDEC Dry Cleaner Environmental Response Program (DCERP) regulates the site and provides oversite on site activities.

Prior to conducting the current remediation program, F&A conducted two rounds of site investigation and a year of ground water monitoring to determine site conditions and contaminant distribution. These activities suggested the site was a good candidate for enhancing on-going natural biogredation processes in-situ, without the necessity of pumping the affected ground water out of the ground and treating it at the surface. Accordingly, F&A designed an injection treatment program which was approved by DCERP.

The remediation program included quarterly ground water monitoring to evaluate the effectiveness over a period of one year after injection. The analytical results from this monitoring event suggested that remedial injection has already become effective and the contaminant levels are responding as predicted.
